So it has been almost 2 months since I have posted. Our social lives went from hanging with our gatos (cats) Max and Kyle, to dinner invitations, golf invites and trips to various parts of this great country. After 4 months in what we are now finally calling our home, we are still loving every moment.
We still do not have neighbours in Hacienda Pacifica. We are looking forward to the next home completion but at the same time, we are really enjoying having the whole place to ourselves. We have our own security guard, and Mencho Hacienda Pacifica's superintendant for lack of a better word takes very good care of us. If we come home after dark, our outside light is turned on and the sprinklers are sprinkling. Mencho grew up on this land, and raised his family on Hacienda Pacifica and has a personal attachment to the project. He has a great work ethic and is just a really nice guy, and we really appreciate his efforts.
Last night we came back from dinner at Finca La Maya to find the whole back wooded area on fire. In Panama near the end of the dry season which is from December through to May Panamanians starting burning small controlled areas as they think their crops will grow better in the soil come the rainy season. They also burn their garbage. Well a few of the local small small fires must have lost some of their ambers to our green area and it got out of control. There were flames everywhere. We took a drive back to along the river road, and saw a armadillo crossing in front of us trying to get away from the fire. Lightening and overcast skies have been the weather for the last 2 days but still no rain, not a drop. I can't wait to see the rain. Some prefer the rainy season with its sporadic thunder storms, I think I will too.
This weekend we are off to The Pearl Islands with some new friends. We are spending Saturday night on Contadora. Allan is flying us over....a quick 25 minute flight from Chame. Which brings me to my next post of entertaining ourselves in Panama.
